Ani Alvarez Calderon is a Peruvian fashion designer. Founder and creative director of ANI ALVAREZ CALDERON. Co-founder to BENEAI. 

After graduating Suma Cum Laude at Rhode Island School of Design, Ani spent a year in New York working in the creative department at Michael Kors. In 1993, she returned to Lima where her design and creation of one-of-a-kind dresses gained her a growing clientele. At the same time, she began teaching and training financially underprivileged women to become part of her team. In 2000, Ani established her fashion house and has presented her collections both locally and abroad.

Ani is a visionary, she has a clear message expressed through her art. Many have describe her as ahead of her time, Ani’s vision is to make her cultural heritage transcend through her fashion statements as a modern renewed artistic concept.

Ani’s life-long interest in textiles and traditional cultural expressions led her to explore the historical importance of dress in Peru’s multi-cultural society. Consequently, Ani began to establish direct contact with women and men who preserve and work with traditional cultural expressions. Since 2020, her projects are centered with the Shipibo-Conibo community in the Amazon rainforest.
